Bob Marley Birthday Bash wsg Zion Lion

Saturday, February 11, 9:30 PM

Hey mon! It’s time again for the annual Bob Marley Birthday Bash, with special 2012 guests Zion Lion. Zion Lion is known as the “baddest reggae band” to hit the West Michigan music scene. The members are a combination of several bands from the Kalamazoo area that crossed each others path along the way and decided to form what they call the right mix of reggae.

These musicians have played in small clubs to large cultural festivals including the Kalamazoo Island Festival, Kalamazoo Black Arts Festival, Grand Rapids Caribbean Festival, Muskegon Summer Festival, Louisville Reggae Festival and Rock Island Caribbean Festival to name a few. You can’t help but get up and dance and have an “IRIE FEELIN’” whenever you hear Zion Lion!

Why we love reggae: In the early 1960’s, in the slums of Kingston Jamaica, local drummers mixed sounds from American R&B, Pan-African, and the Caribbean to produce a musical mixture called Reggae. Bob Marley and other positively based performers share One Love, a mission of spreading a “life affirming, compassionate and all encompassing world view.”
