DESCRIPTION:The Gentex Street Performer Series returns to Downtown Holland every Thursday night this summer!  \n\n\n\nThe 2025 Series will take place Thursday evenings from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm from June 12 through August 14. During the Gentex Street Performer Series\, the entire community is invited to enjoy the sights and sounds of 25 different artists and groups while they perform free for the public throughout Downtown Holland! \n\n\n\nFrom musicians and break dancers to caricature artists\, balloon twisters\, jugglers\, face painters\, and more…you’ll find every performance art imaginable in Downtown Holland during the Street Performer Series! The Series is entirely free to attend\, but tipping the performers is highly encouraged as your way of saying thanks! And as part of the Downtown Holland Social District\, patrons ages 21+ can enjoy an adult beverage while strolling down 8th Street during the event. \n\n\n\nThe 2025 Street Performer Series is proudly sponsored by Gentex Corporation. Please join us in thanking them for their support! The Series is also supported by the Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs. \n\n\n\nPlease note that 8th Street will be closed to thru traffic and parking each Thursday from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm from Columbia Avenue through River Avenue to accommodate the Series. DESCRIPTION:Holland Parks & Recreation is excited to announce the return of the Summer Concert Series in 2025. \n\n\n\nResidents and visitors alike are invited to join in the excitement at the Kollen Park Bandshell every Friday evening to enjoy a free community concert. The series kicks off June 13 and will occur every Friday evening through August 15\, with the exception of July 4. These free community concerts are once again made possible through the generous support of presenting sponsors\, Blain’s Farm & Fleet\, Haworth\, and Barber Ford of Holland. \n\n\n\nConcerts are free to attend and begin at 6:30 PM and last approximately two hours. Indoor bathrooms\, lots of parking\, and a beautiful waterfront view make Kollen Park an ideal place to take in the sounds of summer. Bring a blanket or chair and enjoy dinner overlooking Lake Macatawa\, while enjoying this year’s diverse musical line-up. DESCRIPTION:Books and Blooms is back every Monday morning all summer long at Windmill Island Gardens! \n\n\n\nJoin us at Windmill Island Gardens for the return of our children’s summer series\, Books and Blooms! Every Monday from June 9 through August 11\, our friends from the Herrick District Library will kick off each Books and Blooms with a story time starting at 10:00 am followed by a fun hands-on activity lead by community partners starting at 10:30 am! Families can enjoy activities and learn about things like planting\, water conservation\, wind\, pollinators\, and more! New this summer\, Books and Blooms are free for all to attend! Just mention the event at the admission booth to join in on the fun. Books and Blooms will take place outside in the grass on the east side of the Posthouse. A parent/guardian must remain present at all times.

They each dream of being the first in their family to go college\, but a year of challenges ensue with virtual learning\, and the realization that the cost of affording college seems impossible.Logline Three Latinx teenagers struggle with their identity because they are children of Mexican immigrants in a Dutch-American town. DESCRIPTION:The entire Holland community is invited to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country at the annual Memorial Day Parade. \n\n\n\nThe Downtown Holland Memorial Day Parade will be held at 9:30 am on Monday\, May 26. This year due to construction on Columbia Avenue\, the parade will begin at the corner of 8th Street and Central Avenue and travel east to Lincoln Avenue\, south to 16th Street and east on 16th Street until it reaches Pilgrim Home Cemetery. \n\n\n\nA public program will be held at Pilgrim Home Cemetery at the conclusion of the parade around 11:00 am. (Please note that the parade is not organized by Downtown Holland\, so parade questions should be directed to the Holland Memorial Day committee at hollandmemorialdayparade@gmail.com.) \n\n\n\nThe Memorial Day Parade is organized by a committee whose goal is to honor living veterans who have served this country and to remember those who have died in service to our country. The committee organizes\, manages\, and maintains the Memorial Day Parade and works to educate the community on issues of patriotism\, service history and the pivotal role played by our service men and women in maintaining our nation’s freedom.

SUMMARY:Washington Square Project Update: District-level Nomination to the National Register of Historic Places
DESCRIPTION:Learn about Washington Square’s current nomination to the National Register of Historic Places. \n\n\n\nJoin presenters from the University of Notre Dame School of Architecture and the State of Michigan State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) as they introduce a research and design project which is currently nominating Washington Square to the National Register of Historic Places. The team will share their process for identifying the site\, conducting research\, and applying insights to stewarding the Square as well as other locations in Holland. Additional discussion will explore the procedural side of the National Register\, and how its use can support academic\, SHPO\, and community goals. Lastly\, focus will be given to the critical role of local archives in enabling work of this kind. \n\n\n\nFree for Members\, $5 Per Person for Non-Members\, Pre-registration Required
