DESCRIPTION:The entire Holland community is invited to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country at the annual Memorial Day Parade. \n\n\n\nThe Downtown Holland Memorial Day Parade will be held at 9:30 am on Monday\, May 26. This year due to construction on Columbia Avenue\, the parade will begin at the corner of 8th Street and Central Avenue and travel east to Lincoln Avenue\, south to 16th Street and east on 16th Street until it reaches Pilgrim Home Cemetery. \n\n\n\nA public program will be held at Pilgrim Home Cemetery at the conclusion of the parade around 11:00 am. (Please note that the parade is not organized by Downtown Holland\, so parade questions should be directed to the Holland Memorial Day committee at hollandmemorialdayparade@gmail.com.) \n\n\n\nThe Memorial Day Parade is organized by a committee whose goal is to honor living veterans who have served this country and to remember those who have died in service to our country. The committee organizes\, manages\, and maintains the Memorial Day Parade and works to educate the community on issues of patriotism\, service history and the pivotal role played by our service men and women in maintaining our nation’s freedom.

The team will share their process for identifying the site\, conducting research\, and applying insights to stewarding the Square as well as other locations in Holland. Additional discussion will explore the procedural side of the National Register\, and how its use can support academic\, SHPO\, and community goals. DESCRIPTION:Visit the Cappon House and Settlers House during Tulip Time! \n\n\n\nThe historic Cappon House was the home of Holland’s first mayor and local tannery proprietor\, Isaac Cappon. Built in 1874\, it is now partially restored to its appearance in 1900. Visitors to the Cappon House step back in time\, immersing themselves in the stories of Isaac Cappon and his large family.The historic Settlers House is a small family home that was lived in by a series of working-class families over the course of its long history. Built around 1867\, the building survived the Great Holland Fire of 1871 and was continuously lived in until the 1990s. Today\, the home has been restored to how it would have appeared in 1871.The self guided tour starts at the Cappon House. DESCRIPTION:Visit the Cappon House and Settlers House during Tulip Time! \n\n\n\nThe historic Cappon House was the home of Holland’s first mayor and local tannery proprietor\, Isaac Cappon. Built in 1874\, it is now partially restored to its appearance in 1900. Visitors to the Cappon House step back in time\, immersing themselves in the stories of Isaac Cappon and his large family.The historic Settlers House is a small family home that was lived in by a series of working-class families over the course of its long history. Built around 1867\, the building survived the Great Holland Fire of 1871 and was continuously lived in until the 1990s. Today\, the home has been restored to how it would have appeared in 1871.The self guided tour starts at the Cappon House. New this year you can buy a combo ticket to get discounted admission to the Cappon/Settler House and the Holland Museum.
