Henry Geerds\, Company D members played a significant role in the Pacific Theatre during World War II\, fighting on the island on Papua New Guinea\, with three of its members earning Congressional Medals of Honor. This exhibit highlights the lives and legacies of these servicemen.

DESCRIPTION:Learn about Washington Square’s current nomination to the National Register of Historic Places. \n\n\n\nJoin presenters from the University of Notre Dame School of Architecture and the State of Michigan State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) as they introduce a research and design project which is currently nominating Washington Square to the National Register of Historic Places. The team will share their process for identifying the site\, conducting research\, and applying insights to stewarding the Square as well as other locations in Holland. Additional discussion will explore the procedural side of the National Register\, and how its use can support academic\, SHPO\, and community goals. Lastly\, focus will be given to the critical role of local archives in enabling work of this kind. \n\n\n\nFree for Members\, $5 Per Person for Non-Members\, Pre-registration Required

SUMMARY:Cappon and Settler House Tulip Time Schedule
DESCRIPTION:Visit the Cappon House and Settlers House during Tulip Time! \n\n\n\nThe historic Cappon House was the home of Holland’s first mayor and local tannery proprietor\, Isaac Cappon. Built in 1874\, it is now partially restored to its appearance in 1900. DESCRIPTION:Visit the Cappon House and Settlers House during Tulip Time! \n\n\n\nThe historic Cappon House was the home of Holland’s first mayor and local tannery proprietor\, Isaac Cappon. Built in 1874\, it is now partially restored to its appearance in 1900. Visitors to the Cappon House step back in time\, immersing themselves in the stories of Isaac Cappon and his large family.The historic Settlers House is a small family home that was lived in by a series of working-class families over the course of its long history. Built around 1867\, the building survived the Great Holland Fire of 1871 and was continuously lived in until the 1990s. Today\, the home has been restored to how it would have appeared in 1871.The self guided tour starts at the Cappon House. New this year you can buy a combo ticket to get discounted admission to the Cappon/Settler House and the Holland Museum.
