DESCRIPTION:Learn about Washington Square’s current nomination to the National Register of Historic Places. \n\n\n\nJoin presenters from the University of Notre Dame School of Architecture and the State of Michigan State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) as they introduce a research and design project which is currently nominating Washington Square to the National Register of Historic Places. The team will share their process for identifying the site\, conducting research\, and applying insights to stewarding the Square as well as other locations in Holland. Additional discussion will explore the procedural side of the National Register\, and how its use can support academic\, SHPO\, and community goals. Through personal stories\, archival materials\, and interactive displays\, visitors will learn about the struggles\, triumphs\, and ongoing efforts to create a more inclusive community. The exhibit highlights key moments\, local leaders\, and pivotal events that have shaped the community’s journey toward equality\, visibility\, and acceptance. DESCRIPTION:Join the Holland Museum for their monthly series\, Free Second Monday! \n\n\n\nThis April the Holland Museum is teaming up with Outdoor Discover Center Network (ODC Network) for an exciting evening celebrating West Michigan’s native plants\, pollinators\, and habitats! As part of April’s Free Second Monday\, we will be offering exciting\, nature-themed activities for families hosted by ODC Network staff members Cole and Maya! The fun continues at 6 pm with Nature’s Roots: Designing Your Own Native Garden \, a Native Plant Workshop led by ODC staff member Lexie Kasper. This adult – focused session will guide participants in designing beautiful and sustainable native gardens that help support local wildlife. The museum will be open from 4 to 7 pm with FREE admission for all visitors\, sponsored by the Meijer Foundation.
