Business Signage

All signage in Downtown Holland must go through an approval process prior to installation. Signage must be approved by the Downtown Holland Design Review Board (DRB) and you must pay the applicable sign permit fee and receive an approved sign permit from the DDA. The DRB meets the third Monday of the month at the Holland Civic Center Place (150 West 8th Street). Applications are due ten (10) days prior to the meeting. Please be sure your application is complete and fulfills all requirements prior to submitting. Please review the signage requirements below and submit your signage application and application fee to DDA Coordinator Jeff Genova.

A-frame sidewalk signs also require a permit and a permit fee, which must be renewed annually. (A-frame signs require administrative approval only.) Businesses are allowed one a-frame sign per property. Please submit the application and the permit fee to DDA Coordinator Jeff Genova. Please be sure your application is complete and fulfills all requirements prior to submitting. Businesses can also apply for additional temporary signage for the promotion of special events.

Sidewalk Cafés

Downtown Holland food and beverage establishments may have the option to establish an outdoor or sidewalk cafe to allow their patrons to dine outside in favorable weather. Not only does outdoor dining increase your visibility and revenue stream, they also help establish Downtown Holland as one of the most sought-after dining destinations along the Lakeshore!

If you wish to offer outdoor dining on adjacent property that is owned by you or your property owner, please complete the Outdoor Cafe Application.  If you wish to offer outdoor dining on the public right away (sidewalk) adjacent to your property, please complete  the Sidewalk Cafe Application. If you have an existing Outdoor or Sidewalk Cafe on 8th Street and are interested in renting up to three (3) adjacent parking spaces for additional outdoor dining space, please complete the Parking Space Dining Application.
