Joe Marcinek’s Dead Funk Summit

August 24 @ 7:30 pm 11:30 pm

Dead meets Funk in a one-night superjam!

Get ready, Holland—Joe Marcinek’s Dead Funk Summit is bringing an explosive blend of Grateful Dead-inspired grooves and deep New Orleans funk to Park Theatre for one unforgettable Sunday night. This powerhouse lineup features legends of jam, funk, and soul coming together to create something truly electric.

Melvin Seals, longtime organist of the Jerry Garcia Band, brings the spirit of the Dead and the soul of gospel-infused funk. With decades of experience as Garcia’s right-hand man, Melvin’s swirling Hammond B3 and signature soulful style are the heartbeat of this summit. His roots in R&B, funk, and rock have made him a true icon of the improvisational scene.

Joe Marcinek (Fresh Hops, Terrapin Flyer) is the architect behind this genre-bending collective, known for assembling all-star collaborations that push musical boundaries with spontaneity and soul.

Tony Hall, a founding member of Dumpstaphunk and one of New Orleans’ most revered bassists, brings raw groove power and deep funk lineage—having played with the likes of Trey Anastasio, Harry Connick Jr., and more.

Rounding out the rhythm section is Cliff Porter (Jelly Bread), laying down tasty beats and slick vocal stylings that add layers of soul to the already stacked lineup.

Grateful jams meet New Orleans bounce. Psychedelic soul meets funk-fueled fire. Whether you’re a Deadhead, a funk freak, or just chasing the groove, this summit delivers.
